Frances Ann Watts, 90, widow of Harvey S. Watts, Jr., died Sunday, December 31, 2017.
Born June 13, 1927, a native of Versailles, KY, she was the daughter of the late Gaylen W. Bell and Stella G. Bell. She was a lifelong member of The First Christian Church where she served as Sunday School teacher and assistant Sunday School superintendent for 18 years. She was always very active in the old Versailles City School system where she served in many capacities, as well as, serving on the steering committee for the integration of the Woodford Co. school system. She retired from Nave Insurance Agency.
An avid golfer, Frances was a charter member of Woodford Hills Country Club, Inc., where she served as secretary for 3 years. She also served as secretary and treasurer of the Central Kentucky Ladies Golf Association. She was ladies champion of the Woodford Hills Country Club twice in her golfing career. Frances started the Oh Susannah Women’s golf tournament in memory of her long time friend and golfing buddy, Susan Williams.
Frances is survived by a sister, Katherine Wallace, Versailles, a daughter, Kaye (Ken) Ward, Versailles, a son, Irvin (Mary) Watts, Northern KY, 9 grandchildren, Kim Williams, Kristi Eden, Shannon Nash, Stephen Watts, Jennifer Doyen, Katie Stephenson, Davis Watts, Elizabeth Colon, Brian Watts, and 11 great grandchildren. Frances is preceded in death by her son, Davis Watts, and great grandchild Madelyne (Maddy) Watts.
