Betty Poynter

Services for Betty Jean Smith Poynter, 82, will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 18, 2017, at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home with Rev. Vernon Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, September 17, 2017, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Poynter passed away Saturday, September 9, 2017. She was born in Frankfort on September 30, 1934, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Roxie Hunter Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Scott Poynter, Jr.; son, Larry Poynter; grandchildren, Anthony Poynter and Amber Poynter; her sister, Louise Bryant; and her brother, James "Alex" Smith.

Betty Jean retired from Webster Electric and was a member of New Harvest Assembly of God.

She leaves behind her son, Billy Poynter (Keitha) of Waddy; daughter, Regina Howard (Thomas Michael) of Frankfort; brother, Freddie Smith; sister, Lucy Hiett; grandchildren, Amanda Pulliam, Shane Murphy, Randall Stigers; and 13 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Brian Stigers, Roger Bivens, Michael Noel, Randall Stigers, Shane Murphy, Bill McDonald and Perry McDonald. Her great grandchildren will serve as honorary bearers.

Flowers are welcome or expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made the Senior Activity Center of Frankfort.
