Carol Louise James, 81, passed peacefully at her home on Saturday, April 3, 2021. Loving wife of the late Jesse B. James, Carol was born February 4, 1940 to Cathey Brownlee and Dorothy E. Bishop Carter in DeSoto County, Mississippi. Carol never learned to drive but loved to ride around town and be chauffeured from place to place. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, painting, cooking and was active in various social circles within her neighborhood and community. Though she had a full-time custodial position, Carol was a self-taught hairdresser specializing in press and curl. She loved life and her family.
Carol is survived by her children, Paula Jennels, Frankfort, Vicky James, Frankfort, DeWayne Brownlee, Lexington, Melvin Brownlee, Frankfort, Jesse (Roberta) Brownlee, Frankfort, Gerald (Drusilla) Brownlee, Frankfort, and Rick James, Frankfort; grandchildren, Whitney Jennels, Alexis Brownlee, Brandon Jennels, Lamar Davis, Nathan Davis, Quenton Brownlee, Chris James, and Isaiah Brownlee; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of friends.
In addition to her husband, Jesse B. James, Carol was preceded in death by her parents Cathey Brownlee and Dorothy E. Bishop Carter; her siblings, Jackie Childs, Richard Brownlee, and Eddie Lee Brownlee, Sr; nephews David Brownlee, Ben Brownlee and John Willie Morgan; and a grandson, Austin Brownlee.
The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the staff and nurses at Bluegrass Care Navigators and Independent Assistance for taking such loving care of Carol and her family. They would also like to recognize and thank the Franklin County Non-emergency technicians for their kindness and assistance. Additionally, her healthcare providers who cared for her throughout the duration of her illnesses: Dr. Sawaya (nephrologist), Dr. Kristin Stakelin (endocrinologist), Dr. Raul Heredia (cardiologist), Dr. Leticia Altamirano (podiatrist), and Dr Anthony Barnes (primary care).
A Graveside service will be held at 1:00p, Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Frankfort, with Rev. Donald Townsend, Sr officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00a until 1:00p, Thursday, at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd in Frankfort prior to the graveside service.
