Obituary for Cyrus Milton Hancock
Frankfort - Cyrus Milton Hancock, 83, husband of Vonda Hawkins Hancock, passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2018. He was born in Owen County on January 1, 1935 to the late Cornelious and Sylvia Criswell Hancock. He retired from Kentucky State Parks and has been a resident of Frankfort since 1957.Cy was a member of Providence Baptist Church for 53 years, serving as: Deacon, Treasurer, and Trustee. He led discipleship by teaching Sunday School and serving through the Training Union and being a Royal Ambassador leader. He enjoyed attending auctions with his wife, retailing furniture, and antiques with the Frankfort Peddler's Mall.
In addition to his wife of 62 years, Cyrus is survived by his three sons, Cornelious "Connie" (Patti) Hancock, OH, Terry (Susan) Hancock, Frankfort, and Robert Dewayne (Marissa) Hancock, Georgetown; one sister, Doris (Hancock) Dempsey; his nine grandchildren, Jillianne, David, Jonathan, Dylan, Kyle, Alexandria, Samantha, Jacob, and Taylor; and five great grandchildren, Anna, Charissa, Nathan, Evianna, and Aiden.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, three brothers, Joe Hancock, Roy Young, and Bobby Hancock; one sister, Louise "Dot" Pippin; and one son, Milton Blane Hancock.
Cy will be remembered by his family and friends for his kind and patient heart, dedication to leading his family, and his quick-witted quips and jokes. "It's your lucky day!" and "Pinchin' sugar" are two favorite gestures Cy would use to bring smiles to the faces of many.
Funeral service will be held at 12:00pm on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd. Cornelious Hancock and Pastor Steve Rose will be officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. All nine grandchildren will be serving as casketbearers. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 8:00pm on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass or PBC Building Fund.
