Drexel Arentha Greene, 83, wife of Rev. Dr. Floyd Greene, went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, March 19, 2021 at Baptist Health, Lexington surrounded by her family. She was born on March 15, 1938 in Ingram Branch, West Virginia to the late Clarence Wade and Della Hendricks Watkins. She received Bachelor’s of Science in Mathematics from Central State University, and a Masters in Special Education from University of Dayton. She later achieved her Rank I Certificate from Georgetown College. She was initiated as a member Beta Xi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church, worked for 35 years for the Dayton Board of Education, she was Mathematics Consultant for the Kentucky Department of Education, and was an Assistant Principal at Woodford County High School. She was a member of the Kentucky Retired Teacher’s Association, and the Central State Alumni Association.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Clarence Wade, Jr., Marvin Wade, Marion Witcher, and Ronell U. Wade. Drexel will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 37 years, Rev. Dr. Floyd Greene; her children, Michael Walker, Wayne (Tina) Walker, Beata (Kenneth) Pickens, Christopher Greene; her grandchildren, Camilla (Christopher) Blakely, Cierra (Richard) Spaulding, Jamaal Pickens, Sr., and Ivory Walker; her great-grandchildren, Samaria Chenault, Karsynn Smith, Israel Blakely, Jamaal Pickens, Jr., Imani Blakely and a host of other cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
There will be public visitations on Friday, March 26, 2021 from 6-8pm, and Saturday, March 27, 2021 from 9-11:30am at First Baptist Church, 233 South Main Street, Versailles.
Due to government mandates those attending services must wear proper facial covering and follow social distancing guidelines. Private Homegoing Services will be held with Rev. Tony Wilson Sr. officiating. Homegoing Services are by invitation only. Private entombment will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens where pallbearers will be Sylvester Howard, Michael McNary Sr., Eugene Sears , Christopher Washington Sr., Grant Stepp Jr., Shawn Wade, Lonnie Robinson, and Gregory Muir.
