Ethel Elizabeth Lancaster, 86, widow of Saint Elmo Lancaster, passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2021 surrounded by her family at her home in Versailles. She was born on July 18, 1935 in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, to the late Howard Ortlich and Ida Rhae Barrick. Ethel was a longtime faithful member of the Versailles Church of God. Ethel spent her life as a loving and devoted homemaker that always put the needs of others ahead of her own.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her sons, Howard Lancaster, Louis Lancaster, Alan Boyd Lancaster, sisters, Dorothy Harmon, Martha Soard, Helen Stewart, and brothers, Luther Barrick, Stanley Barrick, Howard Barrick and Joe Barrick. Ethel will be lovingly remembered by her children, Debbie Fay (Russell) Fannin, Versailles, Daniel “Joe” (Donna) Lancaster, Frankfort, Phillip “Spanky” (Donna) Lancaster, Versailles, Mark (Annie) Lancaster, Burnside, Loren (Linda) Lancaster, Versailles, sisters, Barbara Mathis, Versailles, Grace Lamb, Indiana, 22 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 13, 2021 at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 also at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home, Bro. Frank Layne officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens where pallbearers will be Nathan Lancaster, Jonathan Fannin, Jason Fannin, Mark Lancaster, Jr., Joshua Lancaster and Noah Branham. Honorary pallbearers will be Rodney Murphy, Daniel Hamilton, Chase Hamilton, Keith Branham, Jonah Branham, Russell Fannin and Carl Lay.
