George Scearce

George Washington Scearce, 90, husband of Jessie C. Scearce, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Providence Homestead Nursing and Rehabilitation in Lexington. He was born in Versailles, Kentucky on February 22, 1928, the son of the late Thomas James and Nannie Matthews Scearce. For 37 years he worked at St. John's Episcopal Church. George retired from Kuhlman Electric after 22 years of service and also worked on the farm for John Lewis Owen for many years. He was a member of First Baptist Church for 79 years, devoted member of the Mass Choir, Men's Choir, Usher Board, and Kitchen Committee.

In addition to his parents George was also preceded in death by his brother, James Scearce and his sisters, Katherine Scearce, Clara Johnson, Josephine Smith, Elizabeth Washington, Sally Hope, and Martha Crawford. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 59 years, Jessie Cunningham Scearce of Versailles, sister, Nancy Combs of Charlotte, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
