Obituary for James "Jim" Locker
Frankfort – James Kenneth Locker, went to his eternal home to be with his Lord on, Sunday, March 17, 2019. He was born December 17, 1940, to Nannie Dunn and Bill Locker in Frankfort. James is survived by his wife, Jeannie Locker; children, David (Barbara); LaRae (Bobby); and Tim (Chelsy); grandchildren, Jonathan (Krissy), Cutter, Jake, Sam, and Eli; and brother, Phillip Locker. He was also blessed with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Madeline, Gladys, Carol, Mary, Doris, and Billie Jo.
During High School, he worked at Marshall’s Grocery. After graduation from Frankfort High in 1959, James enlisted in the Army, completing basic training at Fort Knox and was assigned to the Inspector General Division in Verdun, France within NATO. During these three and a half years in France, he served on the Division Honor Guard, performing in ceremonies throughout Europe. James received numerous awards, letters of Appreciation, and the Accommodation Medal.
After six years of military service during the Vietnam Era, James returned to Frankfort with his family and began a 30 year career with IBM. After retirement, he spent several years in various jobs, including Kroger Pharmacy, Kentucky Revenue Cabinet, Buffalo Trace Distillery, and Harrod Brothers Funeral Home.
James was a past President of the Frankfort Civitan Club and a Kentucky Colonel. In addition, he was a long time member of Highland Christian Church, serving in many positions including Board Chair, Deacon and Elder.
Services will be held at Highland Christian Church on Friday, March 22, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. with Dr. Scott Rollins officiating, assisted by Rev. Jesse Baxter. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Highland Christian Church from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
Serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Jonathan, Cutter, Jake, Sam, Eli, and Krissy.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to a charity of one's choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Harrod Brothers Funeral Home.
