John Samuel Carrier, age 69, passed away at home on Tuesday, March 9, 2021. Graveside Services will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens on Friday, March 12, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Rich May officiating. Military Honors will be observed by the VFW Post 4075. Visitation will be held at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 11, 2021.
John was born in Frankfort on April 8, 1951, to the late John William Carrier and Margarette Virginia Blair Carrier. He retired from the Kentucky State Government Department of Transportation. John was a Veteran of the United States Army. As a true outdoorsman, he loved time spent fishing, gardening, or enjoying the mountains. Most of all, he loved the Lord and enjoyed being with his family, grandchildren, and friends at Covenant Church of the Nazarene and Frankfort First Church of the Nazarene.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 20 years, Beth Cook Carrier; children, Joseph Carrier, Cody Lee Carrier, Jessica Carrier, James “Bobby” Beckley (Liz), and Emeral Carrier; brother, Rick Carrier (Diana); grandchildren, Houston Carrier, Connor Carrier, Emalee Carrier, Joey Carrier, Gage Beckley, and Hadley Beckley; one special nephew, Tim Carrier; and brothers-in-law, Gene Cook (Diane), Pete Cook, and Perry Cook; and by sister-in-law, Shirley Cook.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Carolyn Carrier and by brother-in-law, Tom Cook and sister-in-law, Helen Cook.
Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Fenwick, Scott Clark, Greg DeSimone, Jeremiah Smith, Kevin Dean, and Jeremiah Steele. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Carrier, Ted Collins, Bill Cannon, Steve and Rita Meeks, Gary Lynn, Kelly and Tracy Burchett, Bonnie Howard, Drew Meeks, Doug and Amy Derringer, Janice Stanley, Kay Banks, Kenny and Connie Hampton, Trinity Cook, Christian Cook, Cory Cook, Ireland Cook, and Joseph Cook.
