Frankfort - John Roy Lewis, Jr., age 90, passed away peacefully in his sleep the morning of Friday, March 17, 2017. He was born June 6, 1926 in Frankfort, to the late John Roy Lewis, Sr., and Violet Dinkle Lewis. He was an only child. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Ann Jacobs Lewis and his son, John Roy Lewis III.
He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Clark Hall (Mike) and his two sons, Edward Leonidas Lewis and Timothy Eugene Clark and his daughter-in-law, Jennifer Lewis-Bass. He is also survived by his grandchildren who meant the world to him, Andrea Renae Lewis Womak (Seth), Julia Diana Hippe Triplett (Jeremy), Kendall McKee Hall, Alex Jordan Clark, Jacob Edward Clark, Vance Michael Hall, Wesley Blake Lewis, and John Dalton "JD" Lewis. He also had five great grandchildren, Aubrey Kaitlyn Goins, Dylan Womak, Delaney Womak, Harper Triplett, and Reagan Triplett.
He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Forces. He was superintendent for many years for the Robert L. Carter Company which later became the HG Mays Company. He built a great many of roads in Franklin County which he truly enjoyed. In addition to his work, he co-owned Lewis & Clark Court Reporting. He also enjoyed fishing, traveling with his wife, watching his grandchildren play sports, and taking them out to eat afterwards, and watching racing on TV.
Services for Mr. Lewis will be held at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Ray Holdren officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home on Monday, March 20, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters, Kendall, Andrea, and Julia and his great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass (now known as Bluegrass Care Navigators), 663 Teton Trail, Frankfort, KY 40601 or the UK Markey Cancer Center, 800 Rose St., Room 140, Lexington KY 40536.
Arrangements are under the direction of Harrod Brothers Funeral Home.
