Leoda Short Lunsford, 95, widow of Virgil A. Lunsford, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2019 at her home. Born October 10, 1923 in Madison County, Leoda was the daughter of the late June Willie and Ina (Relliford) Short.
Along with her husband and parents, Mrs. Lunsford was preceded in death by two sons Kenneth Lunsford and Harley Darrell Lunsford, and five siblings, Carl, Orval, Allen, Edgar, and Sarah.
Mrs. Lunsford was a retired employee of Texas Instruments and later worked as a greeter at the Wal-Mart in Lawrenceburg. She was a member of the Church of God and enjoyed crocheting, word puzzles, and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by four children, Clyde (Diane) Lunsford of Versailles, Ruby J. Brown of Richmond, Ruth (Donnie) Carter and Ricky (Nancy) Lunsford, both of Lawrenceburg; 25 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; a sister, Allene Shanks and a brother, Jesse (Nancy) Short, both of Richmond.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 27th beginning at 12 noon at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with her son-in-law, Bro. Don Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Frankfort. Visitation will be held from 5 – 8 PM Tuesday.
Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Lunsford, Kenneth Lunsford, Jr., Mike Carter, Virgil Wesley Lunsford, Brian Lunsford, Bobby Coomer, John Coulter, and Jesse Gritton. Honorary bearers will be Jesse Short, Bennie Higgs, and Jim Mollett.
