Leroy Thompson, 88, retired IBM employee, husband for almost 65 years of Geneva Disponnette Thompson, died Friday, October 20 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
Born in Anderson County on Novermber 14, 1928, he was a son of the late Raymond Thompson and the late Alice Willard Thompson Carter. Leroy served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and was an active member of the Pinckard Baptist Church.
Survivors, in addition to his wife include a daughter, Angela Hope (John) Spies of Louisville, a son, Gregory Alan Thompson of Versailles, and a brother, John Allen (Thelma) Thompson of Frankfort. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Louise Thompson of Harrodsburg, a sister and brother-in-law, J. B. and Geraldine Stratton of Versailles, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death two brothers, Raymond Thompson Jr., and James Thompson.
Visitation is 5:00 to 8:00 pm, Monday, October 23 at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home. Funeral services are 11:00 am, Tuesday, October 24 at Pinckard Baptist Church with Rev. Mike James officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers are Braden Peyton, Cameron Peyton, Bradley Stratton, Johnny Stratton, Brian Peyton, and John Spies. Honorary pallbearers are Deacons of Pinckard Baptist Church.
