Mabel Carter

Mabel Waits Carter, 87, of Henderson, KY, formerly of Versailles, passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 under St. Andrew's Hospice Care at Lucy Smith King Care Center. She was born in Lexington, KY, the daughter of the late Barnett and Ethel Waits. Mabel was a graduate of Lafayette High School and Lexington Business College. She attended Clear Creek Baptist Church, was a Kentucky Colonel, and worked for 40 years in Frankfort as a state employee in Unemployment Insurance.

Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, Barnett and Ethel Waits, husband, Edward J. "Billy" Carter, sisters, Lucille "Jimmie" Jacobs, Martha Ethington and her husband, JT Ethington, Jr., Jane and Marjorie "Puzzy" Waits, Peggy Flora, brother, Tommy Waits and his wife, Carolyn, and sister-in-law, Nancy Waits.

Mabel is survived by her brother, Russell Waits, niece, Alice (John) Bassett and her family, Adam Farley, J.T. Farley, Hannah and Maci Farley, nephew, Johnny (Charlet) Ethington and his family, Beth Ethington, Kathryn DeVore, John (Melanie) Ethington IV, Madeline and Quentin Ethington. Lovingly remembered by nieces and nephews. A special thanks to her caregivers these last three years, Star Huff, Judy Samuel, and Lil Owen.
