Margaret Carter Jackson, 89, widow of Joe Jackson, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 15, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born on April 13, 1928 in Alton Station, Anderson County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Charles Reuben and Alice Christine Young Carter. Margaret was the 1946 Salutatorian of Simmons High School and the first Miss Simmons in 1945. She retired from Rand McNally and also worked in the cafeterias at several schools and was a seasonal powder room attendant at Keeneland. Margaret has been a member of First Baptist Church in Versailles since 1940.
In addition to her parents and husband Margaret was preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer Jackson, sister, Charles Ann Browning, and brothers, John, William, James, Cloyd, and George Carter. She is survived by her five children, Faye Young, Lexington, Marilyn (Stephen) Mason, Frankfort, Yolanda (Byron) Costner, Lexington, Nathanael (Janis) Carter, Versailles, Joseph (Shelley) Jackson, Lexington, sister, Ruth Beatty, Lexington, sister-in-law, Sadie Carter, Highland, CA, 15 grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
