Obituary for Mary Lee Collins

Mary Lee Grimes Collins, age 91, passed away Thursday, December 13, 2018.

Services for Mrs. Collins will be held at Hillcrest Baptist Church on Monday, December 17, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Tom Troth officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Hillcrest Baptist Church on Monday, December 17, 2018, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. followed by the service at 1:00 p.m.

Mrs. Collins was born in Frankfort on November 8, 1927, the only child of William H. and Janie Rush Grimes. She retired from the Franklin County Health Department where she was a secretary. Mrs. Collins was a faithful and active member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and taught a Sunday school class for over 40 years. She enjoyed Tole painting and craft work of all types. Above all she loved her church and her family.

Mrs. Collins is survived by two sons, Roy “Butch” Collins, Jr. (Barbara) and Michael Collins (Jodi). She was blessed with four grandchildren, Tammy Lee Manley (Troy), Roy Coleman Collins, III (Crystal), Andrew Collins, and Tommy Nance; two great grandchildren, Matthew Wayne Gatewood, Kyle Sheets; and two step great grandchildren, Dylan and Tanner Manley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Roy Coleman Collins, Sr. and a daughter, Teresa Collins Nance.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Mrs. Collins are suggested to Hillcrest Baptist Church or Bluegrass Hospice Care.
