Robert Harrod

Frankfort - Robert Earl Harrod, age 85, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Frankfort Regional Medical Center. A native of Frankfort, he was born on September 27, 1931 to the late Exie and Mayme Rodgers Harrod. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Emma Jean McCoy Harrod; two daughters, Barbara Waldner (Eric) and Edna Stivers (Earl); Goddaughter, Beth Tutt; five grandchildren, Angel Daniels (Stephen), Robert "Bo" Stivers, Andrew Waldner (Dane DeSutter), Jonathan Stivers (Kelly) and Lara Waldner, and three great-granddaughters, Emma Kate Daniels, Tilley Anne Daniels, and Abigale Victoria Stivers. Mr. Harrod is also survived by one brother, Calvin Harrod (Edith) and his wife's sister, Rachel Daniels (Jim). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Leonard, Hartwell, Keith, Leon and Marvin Harrod and five sisters, Grace Smoak, Clara Mae Metts, Minnie Taylor, Mary Ruth Perkins, and Ruby Basil.

Mr. Harrod retired from National Distillers/Jim Beam. He was a member of First Baptist Church and served his country in the United States Army. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in tobacco, and vegetable gardening. He was known to others for his kind heart, generous nature, playfulness, sense of humor, and storytelling.

Services for Mr. Harrod will be held at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 17, 2017 with Rev. David Rayborn officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home on Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
