Robert Simpson

Robert Edward (Bob) Simpson, 84, husband of Janet Simpson, passed away on Friday, November 2, 2018 at Frankfort Regional Medical Center. He was a devoted husband and father. Bob was born on October 6, 1934 to the late Nova and Bertha Simpson in Bourbon County. He graduated from Bourbon County High School and the University of Kentucky with a Civil Engineering degree. Bob retired from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and was a member of Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church. Over the years, he was heavily involved in church life while serving as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. Bob treasured his family and friends. He was an avid UK Sports fan and loved all sports, fishing, bridge, and golf.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his 3 children, Jeff (Becky) Simpson, Prospect, Tim (Alison) Simpson, Frankfort, and Jill Simpson (Jeff) Smith, Nicholasville; his sister, Marjorie Wright, Lexington; his brothers, Nova (Betty) Simpson, Lexington, and Roy Simpson, Lexington; his grandchildren, Allison (Dave), Anna Laura (Jay), Thomas, Clayton, Claire, Cameron, Anna, Sam, Makendia, and Beau; and his 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Chris Simpson; his sisters, Myrtle Cassity, Nina Marshall, and Virginia Leach; and his brother, Leonard Simpson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church. Rev. Todd Lester will be officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Serving as casketbearers will be Thomas Simpson, Clayton Simpson, Cameron Smith, Sam Simpson, Sam Smithers, Peter Clayton, Bill Cassity, and Larry Cassity. Honorary casketbearers will be Kevin Hall, Gary Simpson, and Stephen Simpson. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 7:00pm on Monday, November 5, 2018 at Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church.
